You are welcome to worship with us! Come and grow in faith with us.
Worship times are weekly, Sundays and Fridays. All worship times are bilingual, barring unforeseen circumstances. Friday morning worship is designed to be convenient for housewives and off-hour workers to attend, Sunday morning--for families to attend, and Sunday afternoon--for students and young people to attend, although of course anyone is welcome at any service. In each setting, communion is served once a month.
Our praise and worship style is primarily contemporary. We have praise practice monthly on the first Saturday evening. Those who wish to join the worship team are asked to come to practice.
After the worship time on Sunday morning there is an object lesson, after which the children are dismissed for Sunday School classes.
Adult and children's English conversation classes are taught by missionaries. If you have an interest in English, please try taking a class.
Many people are involved in a variety of Bible studies. You are invited to join a study of your choice, either with the ladies on Thursday mornings, or on another day of your choosing, using a textbook to deepen your understanding of the Bible.
Freewill offerings are taken at every service, which support the many church activities.
There is parking for six cars nearby. Besides those spaces, one small car can park in front of the church. Park carefully and legally. Cars need to park away from corners, and bicycles need to park not blocking the street. There are also pay parking lots in the area.
The church structure includes membership, staff, and board, with monthly business meetings, open to all IBF participants. Many activities of the church are planned and carried out with everyone's involvement.
IBF belongs to the Japan Evangelical Covenant Churches. Their structure is congregational, with an administrative board elected every two years. This group believes the Bible to be the ultimate authority for our faith and practice.
The church began as a pioneer work in 1985 in Minami Nagareyama, and has met in a number of places. At the end of 2003, the church acquired the current building, and had a service of dedication on January 10, 2004. The Lake family lives on the second floor and serve as on-site contacts. They have opened their home to many Bible studies. The church also serves the community by offering English conversation classes, music classes and tolepainting workshops. IBF has had fellowship for many years with River City Church of Lewiston, Idaho, USA., and has been enjoying the ministry of the Breithaupts and Schaufeles from that church. Besides their ministry in church, they have been teaching English as volunteers in the local elementary school. We have also established a relationship with Taiwan Covenant Churches. We are an international fellowship that desires to include people of all ages, nationalities, and from all walks of life.
