-EVANGELICAL COVENANT CHURCH: IBF is affiliated with the Evangelical Covenant
Church group, whose basic beliefs are as follows:

1)When new members join a Covenant church they are asked two questions about belief:

a)“Do you confess Jesus Christ as your savior and promise to follow Him as Lord?

b) “Do you accept the Holy Scriptures, the Old and New Testaments, as the Word of God and the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine, and conduct?”

2)The essential beliefs are summed up in the following Covenant Affirmations:
-We affirm the centrality of the Word of God
-We affirm the necessity of the new birth
-We affirm a commitment to the whole mission of the church
-We affirm the church as a fellowship of believers
-We affirm a conscious dependence on the Holy Spirit
-We affirm the reality of freedom in Christ

*We believe in one God, the Creator of heaven and earth, who has revealed Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

*We believe in the Bible as the inspired Word of God; that it is without error in the original Scriptures, and is therefore the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

*We believe in the creation, test and fall of humanity as recorded in the Bible; that in our natural state we humans are spiritually corrupt (sinful) and therefore totally unable to attain divine righteousness and eternal life through our own efforts or works.

*We believe in Jesus Christ, the one true Savior, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, very God and very man.

*We believe in the Gospel—that Christ died to pay the penalty for our sins, was buried and rose from the dead three days later.

*We believe in salvation for sinners, by grace, through faith—that those who believe in Jesus Christ and fully trust Him to be their Savior are redeemed. That is, by accepting Christ’s free gift, believers in Him have their death penalty paid and are justified (declared “not guilty”) by God’s gracious decree, thereby becoming a part of His church. This faith is affirmed by baptism.

*We believe in the reality and personality of Satan, the enemy of God and humanity (especially God’s people). Satan was conquered by Christ’s resurrection, which sealed the doom that awaits him when Christ returns. We believe that Christians can be oppressed but not possessed by demons.

*We believe in the physical, personal return of our Lord Jesus Christ and the events pertinent to the following scriptures: (Matthew 24, Acts 1:11, I Thes. 4:16-17,II Thes. 1:7-10, Titus 2:12-14)

*We believe in the work of the Holy Spirit as our Comforter, Revealer of Christ, and the Distributer of gifts. We believe that the Holy Spirit works in signs and wonders, and in deliverance today, as in the early church.

*We believe in the offices and appointed leaders in the church as demonstrated in the early church, and we recognize their God given authority in the church.

*We believe that the church’s greatest mission is the fulfilling of the great commission.
(Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 1:8)

*We believe that every church member of IBF should:
-Be a passionate believer in the gospel of Jesus Christ
-Be in regular attendance of most church gatherings
-Support the church in prayer and encouraging words,
as well as in tithes and offerings.
-Submit to the leadership of IBF. (Pastor, elders, department heads, etc.)
-It should be the goal of each member to discover their God appointed place of service in IBF.

The above statements are essential for our church if we are to demonstrate true Biblical Christianity.

NOTE: Because IBF is an international church, one can expect a variety of cultures to be represented. This means not only natural cultural differences, but spiritual and theological interpretations and practices as well. We ask you to be patient in this area, as there will be a variety of non-essential beliefs and thoughts expressed in our services. Let us strive for unity.
